Disney Experiences Announces Dates For Fourth Edition Of Disney Jr. Let’s Play! Party Ahead Of D23, 2026.

Disney Jr. Let’s Play! Party makes its return to Disneyland Resort in 2026, featuring entertainment and activities energized by iconic Disney Jr. stories and characters at Disney California Adventure park on Aug. 13, 2026, before extending the festivities into a three-day event at Downtown Disney District from Aug. 14 through Aug. 16, 2026.

This returning event kicks off alongside D23 Day at the Disneyland Resort, a one-day-only event featuring Disney fandom fun, special entertainment, and more on Aug. 13, in advance of D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in Anaheim.

Since the event starts on a Thursday instead of Friday (Where D23 starts). Likely this event will feature the annual Disney Kids & Family PR breakfast where Ayo Davis (Disney Kids & Family CEO, Disney Television Animation VP of Development & Current) unveils the slate of upcoming projects coming to the network in Fall 2026 - 2028.

THURSDAY AUGUST 13

The Disney Jr. Let’s Play! Party in Disney California Adventure returns Aug. 13, welcoming all park guests, including preschoolers and their families, to enjoy live entertainment, meet fan-favorite Disney Jr. characters, and more!

This special, one-day event, tailored to families with young children, celebrates favorite Disney Jr. characters, and stories from hit series including Sofia the First: Royal Magic, SuperKitties, and Spidey and his Amazing Friends.

Don’t miss the highlight of the Disney Jr. Let’s Play! Party – the “Disney Jr. Let’s Play! Block Party!” Starting at 10:30 a.m., the “Disney Jr. Let’s Play! Block Party!” will travel through Hollywood Land in California Adventure, making brief stops on Hollywood Boulevard and at Carthay Circle. This high-energy celebration is filled with music, grooves, and dressed-out vehicles, featuring Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and other iconic Disney Jr. characters.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 14 - SUNDAY, AUGUST 16

From Aug. 14 through Aug. 16, Disney Jr. Let’s Play! Party will continue at Downtown Disney with various offerings throughout the day. The Downtown Disney LIVE! Stage and Lawn will keep the fun flowing throughout the weekend, with a medley of family-friendly entertainment and activities.

Kids can keep dancing and grooving at DJ dance parties or live out their bubble dreams during The Bubbles Experience presented by Disney Jr. Family crafts will be available at the Disney Jr. Let’s Play Craft Zone near the Downtown Disney LIVE! Stage.

To top it all off, there will be even more unique photo locations in Downtown Disney for you and your “fan fam” to commemorate this special celebratory weekend.

OTHER DISNEY JR. ACTIVITIES

The fun doesn’t stop there! Hollywood Land will host a multitude of Disney Jr. offerings for the entire family to enjoy. At the Hollywood Backlot Stage, kids can dance with Mickey Mouse and friends during “Disney Jr. Let’s Play! Live.”
You may even spot Sofia the First, from the Disney Jr. hit series, Sofia the First: Royal Magic, debuting her new attire, as well as Spidey and more characters making special, limited-time appearances.
Kids ages 3 through 11 can discover how the magic of food brings everyone together to save the day and decorate cupcakes with the help of the cat-tastic superheroes from the hit Disney Jr. animated series, SuperKitties, during “Confection Purrfection with the SuperKitties,” also at the Hollywood Backlot Stage. Space is limited, and participant sign-ups begin 45 minutes before each showtime.
Little ones and their families can get creative together at the Disney Jr. Let’s Play Craft Zone in Hollywood Land, and at Animation Academy, artists of all ages can learn to draw Pepper, Sofia’s adorable pet puppy-unicorn, from Sofia the First: Royal Magic as well as other Disney Jr. characters.
Take the fun home with you after stopping by the photobooth in Hollywood Land for a Disney Jr.-themed photo strip of you and your party for an additional fee, or pose for a picture at unique photo locations in the area. Disney Jr. merchandise is also available at Studio Store and Elias & Co. in California Adventure.

D23, 2026 Brings Interactive Animation Pavilions For Walt Disney Studios Slate.

Today, Disney unveiled details about what fans will experience on the show floor at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event (August 14-16) presented by Visa, with all-new and fan-favorite offerings celebrating Disney’s brands and franchises across the largest show floor in D23 event history.

Show Floor Experiences

Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Animation Studios are also joining forces for a must-see animation experience on the show floor, inclusive of a special celebration of Pixar’s 40th anniversary. Artist demonstrations, autograph signings with some top filmmakers, fan giveaways, and interactive displays featuring the latest films from these iconic animation studios — including the upcoming Walt Disney Animation Studios projects like Hexed, Lilo & Scratch and Frozen 3, as well as Pixar’s Gatto, Loving Dory, a unannounced Pixar film and Incredibles 3 — make this pavilion one to visit again and again.
At select times throughout the day, Bluey and Bingo will be available for photos in The Bluey Movie booth — for real life. Reservations are required for a chance to meet Bluey and Bingo.
Guests can also celebrate the new Simpsons movie — in theaters September 3, 2027 — with fun, shareable photo moments to commemorate D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.

In non-animation news: The “Disney Channel Original Movies” branding is here to stay as “Descendants: Wicked Wonderland” also drops the previous name “Disney Original Movie” via Laughing Place.

“When you catch Disney Descendants: Wicked Wonderland, you will pick up on one small but noticeable change: Disney has returned to using the Disney Channel Original Movie branding.” - Laughing Place.

ICYM: Starting with “Prom Pact” in 2023. All the DCOM-style films were branded as “Disney Original Movies”. IMO branding them under that name caused confusion with audiences and company members.

Disney+ Sets August Premiere For Third “LEGO Disney Princess” Special As Part Of Annual “Week Of Princess” Week.

Disney’s annual “Week Of Princess” is already in the corner and LEGO and Atomic Cartoons is getting ready with a third “LEGO Princess” special.

The special under the name “LEGO Disney Princess: Magical Mayhem” will stream Friday, August 21 on Disney+. The special will also be available on the Disney Kids Youtube with encore airings on Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney Jr. later this year.

Synopsis: During a heavy rainstorm, the Princess characters and their sidekick friends take in animals in need while enjoying a cozy day in their castle. But when the animals run amok, chaos erupts. Sleuthing reveals a mischievous villain behind it all, and with teamwork, quick thinking, and help from an unexpected friend, the Princess characters must restore order and save their home.

“LEGO Disney Princess: Magical Mayhem” is produced by Atomic Cartoons in association with the LEGO Group. The special will be written by Rachel Vine (“DuckTales” 2017) and directed by Randi Rodrigues and Jake Wilkinson.

Dynamite Comics Set To Launch Kickstarter For “DuckTales: Classic Comic Collection”

“DuckTales” 40th anniversary is coming as well the tenth anniversary for “DuckTales (2017)” and our pals at Dynamite Comics are getting started with a Kickstarter campaign under the name “DuckTales: Classic Comic Collection”.

Much like the sucessful “Gargoyles” and “Darkwing Duck” campaigns, this edition is to reprint the “DuckTales” comics across it’s eras from Gladstone Comics, Disney Comics and the recent Dynamite Comics. Additionaly the “DuckTales” (2017) comics by IDW will also be reprinted.

Walt Disney Imagineering Slates September Opening Date For “Magic of Disney Animation”.

Walt Disney Imagineering has revealed the opening date of The Magic of Disney Animation, an attraction at Hollywood Studios featuring experiences inspired by the Children’s and Family Emmy Award winning short “Once Upon A Studio”.

The Magic of Disney Animation, located in a large building at the end of the new Walt Disney Studios Courtyard, will open to the public on Sept. 14.

The Magic of Disney Animation will feature a collection of experiences centered around animation, including a learn-to-draw experience featuring Olaf, an indoor playground inspired by Alice in Wonderland artwork by Mary Blair, and a character meet-and-greet area.

Drawn to Wonderland Play Area

The new Drawn to Wonderland play area is designed for little kids. The look of the space is inspired by Mary Blair’s original concept art for Disney’s “Alice in Wonderland.” The play area will feature the Queen of Heart’s rose garden, a Mad Tea Party and the Cheshire Cat.

Off the Page character meet-and-greets

The attraction will feature a dedicated area for character meet-and-greets called Off the Page. It will be divided into sections that reference a different part of the animation process, including story, layout, hand-drawn animation, computer animation, lighting and effects. Visitors can take pictures with different characters in each space. Characters that will make appearances in Off the Page include:
Mulan in Story
Rapunzel in Layout
Chip ‘n’ Dale in Hand-Drawn Animation
Donald and Daisy in CG Animation
Goofy in Lighting
Stitch in Effects

Olaf Draws!

Olaf, the summer-loving snowman from “Frozen,” will host this new Animation Academy experience. Visitors will learn to draw Disney characters from Disney Animation artists who appear in a recorded video, while an animatronic Olaf adds his own humor to the mix. Each class will feature a different character that visitors will learn to draw, including Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Genie, Moana, Stitch, Olaf, Ursula, Judy Hopps & Nick Wilde.
Actor Josh Gad, who voiced the character in the Frozen movies, recorded new dialogue for the experience.

Once Upon a Studio

While at The Magic of Disney Animation, visitors can also watch the Emmy Award-winning short “Once Upon a Studio” inside a dedicated theater. The theater has been enhanced with effects to bring the short to life in a new way.

In other news the D23’s social media deleted and re-released the infographic featuring the schedule of the event.

The previous version featured Oswald The Lucky Rabbit and Figment closer to the Disney Entertaiment and Disney Experiences panels however the new version removed both. 👀

Both characters currently have live-action/animation hybrid projects in the works with “Oswald The Lucky Rabbit” set for a 2027 release on Disney+. Additionaly the California Film Commission gave $18.2 million in taxes to a unannounced live-action/animation hybrid film by Walt Disney Studios. (Likely “Figment”)

Dynamite Comics Sets Disney Comics Showcase At San Diego Comic-Con.

Cape Suzette and Manhattan are coming to San Diego Comic-Con.

Dynamite Comics and Disney Comics have set a showcase at San Diego Comic-Con with a panel. The panel slated for Sunday, July 26 will feature sneak peeks to the new “Gargoyles” and “TaleSpin” series slated for August as well announcements and more. (Maybe “Bonkers”, “Goof Troop”, “Adventures of The Gummi Bears”, Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers")

The panel will have “Gargoyles” creator Greg Weisman, James III (“Aladdin” comics) and Amanda Deibert (“TaleSpin” comics).
